impact! missions

IMPACT! Missions finds service opportunities, provides safe work sites and materials, supplies experienced on-site problem solvers, and offers a variety of support services for groups who have little to no experience with mission trips. With IMPACT Missions we help serve our neighbors in the Lampeter Strasburg, Penn Manor, and Solanco school districts.

Our IMPACT! volunteers meet the third Saturday of the month at 8 AM in the church parking lot. Building, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting or general maintenance knowledge is helpful but not necessary. All you need is a willingness to help others.

MCCares is Millersville Community Church’s team of volunteers serving the Love INC Clearinghouse. The Clearinghouse provides us with the names and contact information of people in the community who need assistance with basic needs such as transportation to and from medical check-ups, trips to the grocery store, helping prepare a meal, or do some light housecleaning. Our volunteers fill these needs on a case-by-case basis.

Volunteer Positions: The most common need is for volunteer drivers. Volunteers contact the rider to make arrangements for pickup. Request vary considerable. No volunteer is committed to serving if a particular request doesn’t suit their schedule or physical limitations.

Time Commitment: Varies according to the need, but most often, the requests can be filled in 60-90 minutes.

Equipment Needed: Drivers provide their own vehicle. Requests for housecleaning may require the volunteer to bring a vacuum.

Mercy unleashed

Mercy Unleashed is the Millersville Community Church half of our partnership with Susquehanna Valley Pregnancy Services to provide support to women—primarily from the Millersville University Community—who are facing unplanned pregnancies. Through our bank of essential supplies such as diapers, wipes, formula, food, clothing, and strollers, we aim to ease the financial burden of caring for an unexpected child. SVPS also provides counseling at our First Campus location.

Volunteer positions: Volunteers are needed to staff the baby boutique, as well as to sort donations. Additional training with SVPS equips volunteers who wish to serve as counselors.

Training: Clients must go through counseling in order to qualify to receive supplies. A brief training session is required to introduce volunteers to the requirements.

Time Commitment: Minimal. Volunteers who want to help restock the boutique may set their own schedule. When clients qualify to receive supplies, they will make an appointment to visit the boutique, and a volunteer will be assigned to meet them.
